GOLDEN GATE PARK can take at least another day to explore. It's the largest man-made park in the world! Where else can you do and see the following all in one day? • view world-class art at the De Young Museum • see live dolphins and a roundabout aquarium, along with excellent anthropological and zoological exhibits at the Academy of Science • have tea in an exquisite Japanese garden • wander in the gardens of the Victorian-inspired Conservatory of Flowers • explore the botanical gardens that take you on a botanical trip around the world • watch a polo game • visit a herd of American Bison • walk through semi-tropical rainforests • explore an authentic Dutch windmill • rent a boat to cruise around Stowe Lake • and end up at Ocean Beach and walk along the edge of the Pacific Ocean. Reward yourself with a great meal at The Cliff House, with it's charming Victorian décor inside, at 1090 Point Lobos Ave.(415-386-3330). It's got a fantastic view of wild nature...sea lions on Seal Rock, basking in the sun and frolicking in the turbulent ocean. Wow!

Another great spot to dine at is The Beach Chalet Brewery and Restaurant, 1000 Great Highway (415-386-8439), which is also a night club, and a popular place with local surfers. There are some fascinating, historical murals on the first floor. By the way, The Beach Boys were not singing about the surfing at Ocean Beach, I suspect. Only real dare-devils and die-hards brave the frigid, shark-infested, treachurous currents of Ocean Beach. Watch out for sleeper waves! The Pacific Ocean here is anything but pacified! It's incredibly beautiful, but be careful.
