Week in San Francisco

For a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge, walk or drive over the bridge. If you're driving, just past the bridge, take a right and go under the highway and up to the Marin Headlands. Stop and park, and walk up the hill, and feast your eyes on a fantastic view of The Bridge,The Bay and The City. My,my...what a photo opportunity! (If it's not covered in the famous fog!)

SAUSALITO with it's artists, galleries, fine restaurants and picturesque houseboats, is another very popular destination nearby after crossing the bridge. Go Back to Day 1 for ferry boat info. And then there's TIBURON, with it's quaint downtown area and great restaurants with views to die for such as Guaymas, which serves up excellent gourmet Mexican food, and the extremely lively and popular Sam's Cafe, a fun place to see and be seen in the sun on their outdoor deck. Fleets of sailboats glide around the Bay. Down the west side of East Blythedale Road is the rustic, but tres chic MILL VALLEY, home to many writers, where you can enjoy a latte in the sun under the trees with raptors circling above you at The Book Depot or have some delicious Italian food at D'Angelo, which is a very popular place, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. Lots of shopping opportunities here, with such stores as Banana Republic, Mirror Mirror, Staccato, Wilkes Bashford, Famous for Our Look and Benefit. A fun place to people-watch (and dog-watch, especially if you like Golden Retrievers!)
