Before you leave, for a great walk in nature, go to MUIR WOODS which is not too far past the Golden Gate Bridge. The relaxing walk in the huge redwoods will rejuvenate you (after all that shopping!) MUIR BEACH is also nearby. If you're hungry, The Pelican Inn (415-383-6000), a replica of an English Tudor Inn, is a wonderful place to imbibe a pint of beer in the authentic British pub, or to have a delicious dinner in the rustic, cozy dining room. You can even stay overnight there, as it is a bed and breakfast as well, but reservations are necessary for that.
And if you've made it this far, you must take the ride up HIGHWAY 1 -- it is surely one of the wonders of the world with the most magnificent views! But always keep an eye on the road! The edge of the road often just falls off down a huge cliff. Yikes! It's an exhilarating drive. One of the best in the world! If you're up for it, POINT REYES NATIONAL PARK, further up the coast, is an incredibly beautiful place to hike and take in unspoiled views of wild nature. You'll see herds of huge elk on the way to McClure's Beach. The wide open vistas of the Pacific Ocean and the rolling hills are spectacular. You might feel like you are in a remote area of Scotland! So, there it is! If you cover all this, you'll have had an absolutely fantastic time and have taken in the Best-of-San Francisco. I guarantee it. There's so much more to do and see so if you have more time, check out some of the other sections of this site for some more ideas. Have a fabulous time! |
